The VA Pressure Ulcer Resource (VAPUR) Mobile App is designed primarily for outpatient Veterans and their family-member caregivers, rather than for medical professionals. Its Learn feature presents straightforward content supplemented by graphics and videos, organized as FAQs covering topics such as pressure ulcer care, and the roles of nutrition and exercise in prevention and healing. Healthcare providers may also find VAPUR useful for educating patients about pressure ulcers prior to discharge. The "Journal Entry" function allows users to document individual pressure ulcers, recording details such as wound size, shape, color, drainage characteristics, and pain levels. This feature is particularly valuable in home-based and rural settings where Veterans may lack regular access to specialized wound-care services. Additional features include reminders, automated help dialing, and resource locators aimed at supporting ongoing management and access to care.
